Hello Lovelies! April went by SUPER fast for me, but I am SO ready for May to get here! I decided to change up my Wrap Ups a little bit. I’m going to do a top section like I usually do, where I discuss the books that I read. AND I will be doing an additional section where I have statistics and charts for people who love to look at them like I do!

Total Books Read: 22

Total Pages Read: 6,798

ARCs Reviewed: 5

Books I DNF’d: 4

Average Rating: 3.75

Genre: ADULT Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance

I started this month off by getting completely caught up on The Lords of the Underworld series. I have enjoyed all of the books (except for the disaster that is The Darkest Warrior) and I am anxiously awaiting the release of the next book sometime this year.

Genre: ADULT Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance

I really liked this book and the series does hold a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, after much consideration, I have decided to not continue this series anymore for reasons explained in my review.

Genre: ADULT Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance

Next, I read the first few installments in the Dark Protectors series. I am really enjoying it so far and I plan to come back to the series sometime in May. I just needed a little break after binging all of those books.

Genre: ADULT Contemporary Rockstar Romance

I fell IN LOVE with this series this month! I had been looking for a good rockstar romance for a while and I am SO happy that I found this series. These books are just the right mix of romance with a hint of dark that I love. I still have one more book to go (which is arguably the darkest in the series) which I will be getting to some time in May.

Genre: ADULT Contemporary Romance

I really enjoyed this book. It was a classic Alexa Riley but surprisingly sweet. I just loved the dynamic between the two characters and the romance was developed perfectly.

Genre: ADULT Reverse Harem Contemporary Romance

I. HAVE. FALLEN. IN. LOVE. WITH. THIS. BOOK. YOU. HAVE. NO. IDEA. It is SOOO good and I immediately jumped into the next book!

*NOTE: I would usually do a chart with my E-book/Hardcover/Paperback/Audiobook reads broken up, but I only read e-books this month.*

This chart breaks up the books I read into genres. I wish that I would have gotten some more RH and fantasy in this month…

I am actually really happy with these numbers. I rated a LOT more books 5 & 4 stars than I did last month. The only bad thing is that I did DNF a few more books than I usually do.

I read a lot of smaller books this month which I’m not the happiest about. I am excited that I got a couple of 500 page books in this month though. I am planning on reading bigger books in May though for the Shelfcrate Readathon.

I was able to get a few ARCs reviewed this month. I’m going to have at least four more coming out in May. I’m really excited to dive right into them!

By the way, I know a lot of people get their ARCs from NetGalley, but I recently signed up for Hidden Gems Books and I have had an amazing experience with them! I have never been denied for a book and I have found a lot of titles on there that I enjoyed. I encourage you to check them out if you haven’t already done so.

April in Review:

I am really happy with how April turned out! I got so much done and I have been able to really focus on my blog. Speaking of which, I want to thank each and every one of you for 200 followers! It means more than I can put into words. 💕

I also want to thank anyone who follows my Twitter or Bookstagram because I recently hit 500 followers on both platforms. Every time someone hits that follow button, I am in awe that you really care about my opinion that much. It’s surreal.

A Sneak Peak Into May:

I mentioned it earlier, but I am going to be participating in the Shelflove Crate Readathon is May. I am SOO excited since this is my first readathon and my TBR should be coming out on my blog VERY soon.

For my fellow Bookstagramers, I am doing my first ever Challenge this month!! 💕 I would love it if you would participate with me using the hashtag #BOOKREADSMAY19 on Instagram. What happens is that you post a picture on Instagram each day for the prompt given. Here is the picture of my Challenge if you are interested in participating:

My ReaderRank | BookSirens

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Artstudio – Dashboard.png

I recently went on BookSirens and got my ReaderRank! BookSirens is a website where you sign up and (using your Goodreads bookshelves) you are assigned a ReaderRank. Based on this reader rank, you qualify for ARCs by the authors that have signed up through the website.

I received a lot of very interesting statistics about my reading and habits through this website. I thought I’d share those results with you today. I’ll talk about how I feel and my reactions to them.

This section is just an overview of my reviews. It goes into further detail so I’m not going to comment much on it.

I am SO excited that I am almost at 600 reviews though! I started writing them exactly two years ago this month so that number is unreal to me. I remember writing my first review like it was yesterday and dreaming about getting to 100. 600 is truly a dream come true for me.

This section was really interesting to me because I had NO idea that I had hit over 200,000 pages read. That number is so out of this world and still doesn’t seem real.

I am also really proud to be in the top 5% based on review volume. As mentioned above, 600 reviews and 700 books rated is just so crazy to me! It made those numbers really sink in.

This section was a surprise. I didn’t really think about all of the different genres that I have read until I saw this. Some were expected like Romance and Fantasy, but the amounts of Thriller and Science Fiction were shocking.

The top 5% of Romance reviewers wasn’t that shocking. I have always loved romance (I am a hopeless romantic after all) and I have really started focusing more on that genre within the last year.

Something that completely astounded me was that I rate Science Fiction the highest! It is one of my least favorite genres that I read and I guess it never registered to me that I rate the few SF books I have read high.

This section was expected. I do read a lot of Romance, after all. But, it was nice to see the genre broken up like that so I could see the amounts of secondary genres within Romance.

I am SUPER proud of the top 5% in Reverse Harem Romance though. I have a whole section of my website dedicated to RH so that should speak to how much I love the genre.

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Autumn's Profile - BookSirens(4)

I have never really stopped and broken up the different age groups I read so this section was a welcome surprise. I had no clue that I had read that many Children/Middle Grade books!

The top 5% in New Adult statistic shook me a little bit. If you would have asked me, I would have thought that I hadn’t read nearly that much NA.

The fact that I rate Adult the highest wasn’t a shock. I typically enjoy Adult books more with NA just slightly behind that.

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Autumn's Profile - BookSirens(5).png

I don’t really have an opinion on this section. It made perfect sense. The only thing that mildly caught me off guard was that I rate Futuristic books the highest.

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Autumn's Profile - BookSirens(6)

This was one of my favorite statistic sections. There were a few surprises and some things that I had suspected that were confirmed. The top 5% in Love Triangle made me do a double take. Do I really read that many? The Dark and Urban I was expected. Those are two of my favorite genres.

As far as the character types go, I am not shocked in the slightest. My favorite characters are dark, gloomy, morally grey males! Shifters (which I am assuming is what animal means) is one of my favorite paranormal creatures out there so that one makes perfect sense as well.

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Autumn's Profile - BookSirens(7).png

I sat and just stared at this chart for a while. I didn’t think I was a “strict reviewer”. I thought I rated books highly.

I feel like I’m going to be side eyed for the Twilight bit. That 5 star rating came from my teenage self and after seeing that statistic, my rating on Goodreads has been changed.

I read My Commander at a time when I wasn’t really in the mood for it and I DNF’d it. I have heard that it is a really good Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance series so I will be giving it another try.

I also feel like I’m gonna be side eyed for Camp Daddy, but you know what? I stand by that rating. I wanted to try something different and that was a good book for its genre!

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Autumn's Profile - BookSirens(8).png

This was an interesting statistic, but I don’t really have any grand feelings about it.

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Autumn's Profile - BookSirens(9)

This is my favorite section out of all of them. I am more proud of that top 5% in self-published than anything else. It takes a lot for an author to get their name out there if they are self-published and knowing that I am contributing to the spread of that is really important to me.

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Autumn's Profile - BookSirens(10).png

This section didn’t give me any new information. I did like seeing it displayed in a chart though.

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Autumn's Profile - BookSirens(11).png

I feel like I should be embarrassed about this statistic, but I’m not. I just genuinely prefer female authors. From their writing styles, to character development, to romances. 95% is really high though.

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Autumn's Profile - BookSirens(12)

I found this section interesting. I had no idea! Though, I supposed it makes sense.

Screenshot_2019-04-11 Autumn's Profile - BookSirens(13).png

I don’t know how to feel about this one? Do I genuinely like popular books more or do I just succumb to the hype?

Thank you for joining me today! If you read through all of that, I thank you. I am very grateful. Do you have any thoughts on my statistics? I would really like to hear some of your opinions.

I also highly encourage you to check BookSirens out for yourself. I learned a lot from them and I am really glad I did it.

The only downside to all of this is that BookSirens doesn’t automatically update. I have to manually upload my Goodreads file each time I want the statistics to be up to date.
