BLOG TOUR (+EXCERPT): Condemned To Love by Siobhan Davis

Her teen crush is now a ruthless killer and powerful mafia heir.
Will one life-altering night unite or destroy them?

Bennett Mazzone grew up ignorant of the truth: he is the illegitimate son of the most
powerful mafia boss in New York. Until it suited his father to drag him into a world where

power, wealth, violence, and cruelty are the only currency.

Celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Sin City should be fun for Sierra Lawson, but
events take a deadly turn when she ends up in a private club, surrounded by dangerous

men who always get what they want.
And they want her.

Ben can’t believe his ex’s little sister is all grown up, stunningly beautiful, and close to
being devoured by some of the most ruthless men he has ever known. The Vegas trip is
about strengthening ties, but he won’t allow his associates to ruin her perfection.
Although it comes at a high price, saving Sierra is his only choice.

The memory of Ben’s hands on her body is seared into Sierra’s flesh for eternity. She
doesn’t regret that night. Not even when she discovers the guy she was crushing on as
a teenager is a cold, calculating killer with dark impulses and lethal enemies who want

him dead.

Understanding the risks, she walks away from the only man she will ever love, stowing
her secrets securely in her heart. Until the truth becomes leverage and Sierra is drawn
into a bloody war—a pawn in a vicious game she doesn’t want to play.
As the web of deceit is finally revealed, Ben will stop at nothing to protect Sierra. Even if
loving her makes him weak. In a world where women serve a sole purpose, and
alliances mean the difference between life and death, can he fight for love and win?

SIERRA

Just as I was starting to lose my anger, it returns full force, slapping me in the
face. “I don’t want your dirty money!” I hiss, prodding my finger in his chest.
An amused grin spreads across his mouth, and I want to scream. “I run several
successful legitimate businesses. I assure you my money is about as dirty as yours.”
He has an answer for everything. It’s infuriating. “You truly have no shame,” I seethe.
How dare he invade my privacy like this. He has no right. “Next, you’ll be telling me you
know my bra size.”
His eyes lower to my chest, and I scowl, wanting to wrap my arms around myself to
deprive him of the view. But I won’t give him the satisfaction of letting him know how
much he is getting to me either, so I don’t move a muscle.
“You were definitely a B cup in Vegas, but I’m guessing you’re a C cup now.” He
steps a little closer, and though my instinct is to fall back, I stand my ground, refusing to
let this asshole intimidate me again. Bending down, he presses his warm mouth to my
ear. “I would need to conduct a physical exam to make an accurate assessment.”

I push him away, glaring at him. “You’re a pig.”
His lips pull up at the corners. “I don’t remember you complaining in Vegas. In fact, I
distinctly remember you begging me to suck harder on your nipples as I plowed my
cock into your greedy pussy.”
“Get out!” I bark, pointing at the door. “Just go.”
He winks, and I invoke every shred of willpower I possess not to lunge at him and
gouge out his eyeballs.
“Until tomorrow.” He gives me a curt nod before exiting my kitchen, and I slump back
in my chair, relieved he is gone but a little disappointed too.

BLOG TOUR (+EXCERPT): Maverick by Serena Akeroyd

Hello Lovelies! I am so happy to be a part of the blog tour for Maverick by Serena Akeroyd for you guys today. AND to bring you a special excerpt! I hope you are as excited as I am!

Excerpt:

“Where’s Nic?”
He kept on asking that, kept on demanding for this Nic who I didn’t know, had never
even heard of, but his desperate tone hit my heart hard. If his desperation for a stranger
didn’t take me aback, then my disabled husband, a man who lived in a wheelchair,
stunned me further by getting to his feet, standing on them, just as Link and Steel, two
of his MC brothers, as well as a nurse, made an appearance in the room.
They tried to restrain him after they got him back into bed, yet the more they tried to
keep him there, the more anguished he was. The more desolate.
I had never heard him mention Nic before, but he was desperate to get to
him—whoever he was. His brothers didn’t appear to know who this Nic was either.
“We’ll find out who Nic is,” Link vowed, his face sweaty with exertion as both he and
Steel worked hard to keep him contained on the bed.
His words were the passcode that triggered a cessation of Maverick’s struggling. As
if they’d flicked a light switch, he stopped. Turned still.
“Until then,” Steel told him, “Ghost is here.”
Mav stared up at him. “Who’s Ghost?”
I saw Link pass me a guilty look, but I didn’t stick around to find out how else he
could break my heart.
I loved him.
What a time to realize it.

Synopsis:

Thea Hope longs to be an alchemist out of the shadow of her famous mother. The two of them are close to creating the legendary Philosopher’s Stone—whose properties include immortality and can turn any metal into gold—but just when the promise of the Stone’s riches is in their grasp, Thea’s mother destroys the Stone in a sudden fit of violent madness.

While combing through her mother’s notes, Thea learns that there’s a curse on the Stone that causes anyone who tries to make it to lose their sanity. With the threat of the French Revolution looming, Thea is sent to Oxford for her safety, to live with the father who doesn’t know she exists.

But in Oxford, there are alchemists after the Stone who don’t believe Thea’s warning about the curse—instead, they’ll stop at nothing to steal Thea’s knowledge of how to create the Stone. But Thea can only run for so long, and soon she will have to choose: create the Stone and sacrifice her sanity, or let the people she loves die.

EXCERPT:

My mother was screaming at the Comte. Again.

I slammed the front doors behind me and walked down the carriageway, under the dappled shade of the poplars that lined it. A hundred paces away, I still heard her, though at least I could no longer hear the Comte’s frantic endearments and low, rapid pleading. He should know by now that wasn’t the way. Perhaps I should tell him. Adrien was the first of my mother’s patrons I had ever liked, and I did not want to leave Normandy just as spring was breaking. Just as we were beginning to make progress.

Though perhaps we were not. Mother would not be screaming at the Comte if the work were going well. She would not take the time. Alchemy was a demanding science, even if some scoffed and called it charlatanry or magic. It required total concentration. If the work were going well, the Comte would scarcely exist to her, nor would I, now that she would not let me be of use. The com- position must have broken again. This was about when it had, last round. I could not be certain, since she had taken away my key to the laboratory. She could hardly have de- vised a worse insult than that if she had tried, and lately she did seem to be trying. The laboratory was mine as much as it was hers. If she did succeed in producing the White Elixir—which turned all metals into silver—then it was only because of my help. She had found Jābir’s text languishing in a Spanish monastery, but it had been I who translated it when her Arabic wasn’t nearly up to the job. I had labored for months over the calcinary furnace to make the philosophic mercury the text took as its starting point. I had the scars on my hands and arms to prove it. And now that success might be close, she wished to shut me out and deny my part, and claim it for herself alone.

But if she was acting ill and cross, it meant she had failed. A low, smug hum of satisfaction warmed me. I didn’t want the work to fail, but I didn’t want her to suc- ceed without me, either.

A distant smashing sound rang out from the chateau. My mother shattering something against the wall, no doubt.

I sighed and shifted my letter box to the crook of my other arm.

I knew what this meant. Another move. Another man. The Comte had lasted longer than the rest. Over two years, long enough that I had begun to hope I would not have to do it all again. I hated the uncertainty of those first weeks, before I knew what was expected of me, whether Mother’s new patron had a temper and what might set it off, whether he liked children to speak or be silent. Though I was no longer a child, and that might bring its own problems. A chill passed over me, despite the warm afternoon sunshine. God only knew what the next one would be like. My mother had already run through so many of them. And with the recent changes in France, there were fewer rich men than ever looking to give patronage to an expensive alchemist, even one as beautiful and famous as Marguerite Hope.

I veered off the carriageway, into the soft spring grass, dotted here and there with the first of the lavender anemones. I sat by the stream, under the plum tree.

There was no screaming here, no pleading, no signs that my life was about to change for the worse. I inhaled the soft, sweet scent of plum blossoms and opened my letter box. If this was to be my last spring in Normandy, I wanted to re- member it like this. Springtime in Normandy was soft and sweet, sun shining brightly and so many things blossoming that the very air was perfumed with promise. Everything was coming extravagantly to life, bursting out of the dead ground and bare trees with so much energy other impossible things seemed likely, too. I had always been hopeful in Normandy when it was spring. Especially last spring, when Will was still here. When we sat under this very tree, drank both bottles of champagne he had stolen from the cellars, and spun tales of everything we could achieve.

ARC REVIEW:

🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁

THIS IS A SPOILER FREE REVIEW. MY SPOILER FILLED REVIEW WILL BE POSTED SOON

This book was nothing like I thought it was going to be. I didn’t have a lot of expectations going into it because I didn’t know much about the story itself. I had heard that this book was supposedly a Phantom of the Opera and Moulin Rouge mashup, but I haven’t seen either one of those so I was really in the dark on what this story was going to be about. I think that ultimately served me very well because I was completely in the dark on where the story was going to go and that made the plot twists that much more shocking.

This ultimately ended up being a really solid read for me. This universe and the storyline are both very and truly unique. I also found a lot of the characters to be likeable and interesting. With the said, I did have some issues with the main character, Kallia. She just wasn’t that relatable or my cup of tea.

I definitely have a lot of theories for the next installment, but I think all of those theories are probably going to be turned on their heads based on this book.

*I received an ARC copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

BLOG TOUR (+EXCERPT): Inked in Lies by Giana Darling

IIL cover

Inked in Lies, an all consuming friends to lovers romance from Wall Street
Journal bestselling author Giana Darling, is available now!

He moved in next door.

Handsome as sin, older in a way that meant forbidden.
He had tattoos on his hands and wickedness tucked in his grin.
I was a goner as a girl to a man they called Casanova for a reason.
He would never love me, at least not the way I needed him to.

I tried to move on.

But I couldn’t turn my back on him or The Fallen MC.

So when they needed me most, I offered the only thing of value I could use to help them.

My body.

And when helping them meant putting my life on the line, Nova had to decide just how much he was willing to do to get me out alive.

EXCERPT:

It was a heady fuckin’ thing, bein’ someone’s sunshine, their rain, their entire ecosystem.
But it was dangerous too.
’Cause I would raze that all to the ground with one wrong move, one of my stupid
mistakes.
And it would be gone, laid to waste forever.
This was better, rippin’ out the weeds of romanticism I’d been so stupid to sow in her
heart. The other stuff, with time, would survive.
We’d always be family, and eventually, we’d get back to our friendship.
Two years hadn’t ruined us, what was a few more in an effort to heal her heart and give
her the chance to win someone better?
I sat on the edge of the bed, dressed, boots tied, hands in my hair ’cause I couldn’t shake
this feelin’ I was bein’ a fuckin’ dumbass for endin’ it even though I knew it was right.
“Sneaking out?” she whispered.
I looked over my shoulder at her, the sheet clingin’ to the curve of her hip, the flowers I’d
inked on her back vivid against her dark skin and the white covers. My fingers twitched to trace them.
“Nothin’ about this is easy, Li,” I admitted. “I feel like I’m hurtin’ you if I do, hurtin’ you
if I don’t. I’m just tryin’ to find the best option here. You might not believe it, but I’m tryin’ to do what’s best for you.”

She blinked up at me, those wide, long lashed eyes that had stared up at me for years, so
trustin’ and lovin’ were now shuttered, guarded against me.
My heart rattled against the cage of my ribs, strugglin’ to get out.
To get to her.
“I know you think you aren’t good enough. I know you’ve always had that kernel of
doubt about yourself because you were different, and growing up, people told you that made you bad. I know Meredith solidified that for you. But I want you to think it about it like this,” she took a deep breath, and I braced for her words. “You saying your not worthy enough? It’s like me saying the same just because Ignacio is my father, and I have his blood. I choose every day to be better than what he gave me, Nova, even though he’ll always be a part of me. You could make the choice to be better than what you think you are, for me, if you wanted.”

She had a way of sayin’ someone’s name like that. The same way she said the names of
flower varieties, as if each word itself was a novel, and she was tryin’ to convey a summary of the entire thing in one word.
I’d memorized the way she said Nova, as if it was the great novel ever written. As if it
was a sacred text she’d studied, runnin’ her hands over the pages until they went cotton smooth with use and lovin’.
I wanted to be that for her, to try for her, to love her better every day, but how selfish
would it be to keep her in this life of mine?
Lou and Z had been separated for months by prison, Cressida had lost her King.
Wouldn’t I just be condemning Li to a similar fate somewhere down the line?
“You know, Nova, I’ve loved you all my life. Since the day I first saw you across the
street stepping out of that minivan, I thought you were the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.”

She laughed softly, and I thought I’d never heard a laugh so full of grief and mourning. “But for a pretty boy, you have an ugly heart.”
“Lila,” I started, but my voice was wrong, strangulated by the cobra of emotion twined
around my throat, squeezin’ the life outta me. “Don’t say that. Not you. I’d fuckin’ rip out my own heart to see you safe, to see one fuckin’ smile on your face.”
She was so fuckin’ lovely in her despair, tragic in a romantic way like Juliet before her
Romeo. Of course, even my Flower Child made heartbreak look pretty.
“That’s just it. You could make me smile every day for the rest of my life so easily. All
I’ve ever wanted was your love.”
“I love you,” I said instantly, but the words fell flat and heavy when they should have
soared, hollow and cheap as a children’s toy dropped to the floor.
“Not enough,” she declared with a sad kind of triumph as if I’d put her outta her misery
in some horrific way.
As if she’d just been waitin’ for me to disappoint her all along.
“Not enough,” she repeated softly. “Not enough to even try.”
I watched her with my heart in my goddamn throat as she got up, naked and glorious as a nymph crossin’ my path, and went to the bathroom. Before she closed the door, she turned to me and said, “I hope you’re gone when I come back. And you should know, this time? I’m not waiting for you.”

BLOG TOUR Q&A: The Lost City by Amanda Hocking

The Lost City Blog Tour banner--FB

Hello Lovelies! Today I can finally share something that I’ve been dying to for months now! I was contacted by the publisher to be a part of the blog tour for Amanda Hocking’s new book, The Lost City. I have personally heard so much about this author and her books and I was so excited! There was no way I could say no! I don’t think I have ever responded to an email so fast lol.

Anyways, I was given the opportunity to interview Amanda about her upcoming book (which you can find below ⇓). I learned some VERY interesting things and I encourage you to check it out!

SYNOPSIS:

Amanda Hocking, the New York Times bestselling author of The Kanin Chronicles,
returns to the magical world of the Trylle Trilogy with The Lost City, the first novel in The Omte Origins—and the final story arc in her beloved series.

The storm and the orphan

Twenty years ago, a woman sought safety from the spinning ice and darkness that descended upon a small village. She was given shelter for the night by the local innkeepers but in the morning, she disappeared—leaving behind an infant. Now nineteen, Ulla Tulin is ready to find who abandoned her as a baby or why.

The institution and the quest

Ulla knows the answers to her identity and heritage may be found at the Mimirin where scholars dedicate themselves to chronicling troll history. Granted an internship translating old documents, Ulla starts researching her own family lineage with help from her handsome and charming colleague Pan Soriano.

The runaway and the mystery

But then Ulla meets Eliana, a young girl who no memory of who she is but who possesses
otherworldly abilities. When Eliana is pursued and captured by bounty hunters, Ulla and Pan find themselves wrapped up in a dangerous game where folklore and myth become very real and very deadly—but one that could lead Ulla to the answers she’s been looking for.

MY Q&A WITH AMANDA:

  1. There’s been so much excitement and anticipation for more books in the world of the Trylle and Kanin.  What made you decide to revisit those worlds now in The Omte Origins trilogy?

I knew as soon as I wrote Ulla as a small character in Crystal Kingdom (the final book of the Kanin Chronicles) that I was going to write a trilogy about her, but it was just a matter of when. After the Kanin Chronicles, I wanted to take a little break from that world and visit others – which I did with Freeks and the Valkyrie duology. By then, I was so ready to dive back into the world and answer some lingering questions I had left for the Trylle and Kanin.

  1. Why make this the final trilogy?

With the Omte Origins, I feel like I’ve been able to say everything I want to about the worlds. Through the three trilogies, I spent time with all five tribes. Wendy’s mother is Trylle and her father is Vittra, and her story has her visiting both kingdoms. Bryn’s mother is Skojare and her father is Kanin, and her trilogy shows life in the Kanin and Skojare cities, as well as travelling to others beyond that. I won’t say who exactly Ulla’s parents are (that would be spoiling the story) but her journey takes her through the troll kingdoms, with interesting detours through the Omte, Trylle, and Kanin tribes.

  1. What are the most challenging aspects of writing a new trilogy that can be read independently, but is set in a world–the Trylle and Kanin–that you’ve written about before?

The hardest challenge is getting new readers caught up with the world and the lingo without feeling repetitive and boring to longtime fans of the series. I try use this an opportunity to show characters and situations from different angles. The Wendy the audience meets at the beginning of Switched is vastly different Wendy than the that Ulla knows in the Omte Origins. So for new readers, they get introduced Wendy as she currently is, and for repeat readers, they can see who Wendy has become and who she appears to be through the eyes of an average citizen with Ulla.

  1. What’s the most fascinating thing you researched while writing The Lost City?

With the Omte Origins, I really looked back at the course of troll history, and their past has dovetailed with the Vikings and other artic peoples. So I did a lot research on early Vikings and indigenous arctic people, primarily the Inuit and the Sami. My favorite parts were reading their folklore. I even got an Inuit cookbook, and I attempted to make Bannock (a traditional Inuit bread). It did not turn out well, but I blame that entirely on my cooking skills (or lack thereof) and not the recipe.

  1. The “Glossary” and “Tribal Facts” sections at the end of the book are fascinating and really help create a layered, fleshed out world.  Was putting those together as much fun as writing the novel?

It was so much fun. It’s been over ten years and nine books (and several short stories), so I have spent a lot time of thinking and doing world-building. I honestly have enough information for a history book about the worlds of the Trylle, but I don’t know there’s a demand for fictional textbooks. The Tribal Facts were actually one of the first things I wrote for the Omte series, because I went through and get myself reacquainted and made sure I had all my important facts straight.

  1. Was your writing routine affected by the stay-at-home orders due to the pandemic?

My routine itself hasn’t been too affected, since I write from home, but I would say that the stress has a negative impact on me, the way it has for many of us that work in creative fields – or any field at all, honestly. My husband has been working from home, and my stepson had been doing long distance learning before summer break, but that hasn’t really changed too much for me. I usually work after they go to bed and stay up late into the early morning hours.

  1. Were there any favorite songs or music you listened to while writing this book?

Yes, definitely! I listen to so much music when I write, and I even have curated playlists to go along with my books on Spotify. open.spotify.com/user/127756215 Some of my favorite songs to write to were “Ella” by Myrkur, “Wild World” by Cat Stevens, and “Delicate” by Taylor Swift. I also listened to a lot of Wardruna, who are this Norwegian band who make traditional Nordic music with historically accurate instruments. For the soundtrack to the Omte Origins, I wanted it be a blend of traditional Nordic music, mellow seventies folk to go with the trolls delayed pop culture tastes, and pop music that gets through with the trendier younger generations of trolls.

  1. Do you think the music you listen to has an influence on the stories?  Or do the stories influence the music you choose?

I think it’s both, honestly. When I’m picking songs for the playlist, I definitely choose them based on the kind of emotions I want to feel and the tone I want to set for whatever I’m writing. Sometimes I’ll put particularly romantic songs on repeat when writing a love scene or an angry fast-paced instrumental for a fight scene.

  1. What books or authors are you reading or excited to read lately?

I’m super excited about Faith: Taking Flight by Julie Murphy. It comes out the same day as The Lost City, and it’s about a plus-size teenage girl who discovers that she can fly. I recently read A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Rosanne Brown, and I’m counting down the days until The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna and The Project by Courtney Summers.

  1. Any hints you can share about what’s coming next after The Omte Origins Trilogy?

I’m currently working on a stand-alone fantasy inspired by Greek mythology, but I don’t know when it will be out yet. I’ve got ideas for dozens of projects after that, and I’m working hard (and having fun) getting through them all.

Excerpt:

“Enjoy your day off, bitch,” Chloe says as we pull down the blinds and lock the
diner up after another busy day.
“Don’t work too hard,” I singsong. I’m in a great mood because I get to sleep late in
the morning and I have a full day off to myself.
A throat clearing interrupts our banter. “Is this a good or bad time?” Jackson asks,
and the rich undertones in his voice send shivers dancing up my spine.
“Oh, this is a good time,” Chloe answers for me, and I spot a devilish glint in her eye.
“A very good time.” She thrusts her hand out. “I’m Chloe. Van’s best friend. You must be
Jackson.”

I glare at her. Okay, I’ve got zero game, but that doesn’t mean Chloe has to rub it in.
“You told your bestie about me.” He smirks, and I can’t decide which one of them I
want to punch more.
“Didn’t you tell Sawyer?” I ask.
“Guilty. Guess that makes us even.” He flashes me that panty-melting smile, and my
lace thong evaporates from my body. Like poof, and it’s gone.
“Oh fuck,” Chloe murmurs, totally getting it now.
“Yep,” I reply, not removing my eyes from Jackson.
“You’re fucked, girl,” she adds, her eyes shamelessly raking over every inch of
Jackson’s semi-naked torso. He’s in shorts and sneakers again, and damn, if that isn’t
such a good look on him.
“Not yet she isn’t,” Jackson purrs, “but if she keeps looking at me like that, I’ll have
my cock buried balls deep inside her before we’ve even gotten upstairs.”
I fan my face while Chloe looks like she might faint. “I’m trying to work out if that’s a
threat or a promise,” Chloe admits.
“It’s a promise,” Jackson says, winking at me. “I don’t do threats.”
“He’s a keeper,” Chloe decides, tugging on my arm. “And I’m detouring to Jon’s place
because I need his dick now.”
I fight a smile.

BLOG TOUR (+EXCERPT): Titan by Shantel Tessier

Titan - BT banner

Hello Lovelies! I am definitely on a roll this week. Today, I am bringing you my second of three blog tour posts for the week. All of these books were absolutely great and I hope that you follow the tour and give them a chance!

44415669. sy475

Synopsis:

TITAN
I know I have a black soul. Bloodshed and danger are what I live for.
A King is supposed to rule his Kingdom using any means necessary to demand respect.
I’m not a weak man… A King kneels to no one.
I’ve only ever cared about one other person in my life, but the thing is, she never belonged to me. And before I could tell her how I felt, she left.
Now she’s returned, needing someone to save her.
Emilee York was always meant to be mine, and I’ll see to it that happens. I always get what I want, even if that means I have to take it.
And she’s no different. She’ll be my queen, one way or the other.

EMILEE
When I left Sin City behind me, I had no plans to return. I avoided everyone, even my friends, to stay in my bubble. I’ve always been the kind to pull away and run when things get difficult.
But one phone call changed everything, and I was racing back. If only I had known what was waiting for me.
Titan reappeared like a ghost haunting me.
One look and I knew he recognized me. I never forgot him or what we shared. Those feelings that no one else knew existed between us.
I ignored them back then, but now they are more intense than ever.
“Get on your knees…” He demanded I kneel for him.
I tried to act like he didn’t affect me, but he knew. He remembered the way I reacted when he would touch me. And just like he was taught to do—he used my weaknesses against me.
He staked his claim, and I became his queen to use how he saw fit.
What makes it worse is that I crave him, and when I kneeled, it was willingly.
But was it for nothing?

Excerpt:

EMILEE

Titan steps up to me.
“Don’t …”
“Look who found her voice,” he muses.
“Shut up, Titan.” I snap, pulling my cell out of my pocket and dial Jasmine’s number. It rings once, twice. Three times. I pull it from my ear, and he snatches it from my hand. “Hey …”
His smile just widens. “So you do remember me.”
Like I could forget. “Give me my phone back.” I order reaching out for it. He places it in the front pocket of his jeans. “Drop to your knees.”
“Excuse me?” I blink.
His dark blue eyes look me up and down, and the corners of his lips turn up like he knows a secret. And he does. Several of them about me. “Drop to your knees and I’ll give it back to you.”
My blood boils at his words. “Fuck you!”
He steps into me, pressing my back into my door, and I gasp in surprise. I thought he was big, but his hard chest presses into mine, and I have to tilt my head back to look him in the eyes. Even with my heels on, this man towers over me. I always liked that about him. He’s the tallest of all the Kings.
The scent of his cologne hits my nose, and I hate how much I like it. It brings back old memories that I want to drown in, but I make myself stay here in the present. The light pole I parked under casts a shadow over his chiseled face, making it glow like a ghost from my past.
“We came close that one time.” His eyes go to my chest, and I know he can feel my heart pound against his. He reaches up and runs his knuckles over my neck. His skull ring burns the skin, making me shiver. “So fucking close. It was the only time I could actually tolerate you.”
“Titan.” I swallow, trying to calm my nerves.
“Yeah, Em?” he asks as his eyes roam my face.
A fucking whimper comes out when he calls me by my old nickname. Then my breath quickens when he places his hands on my face, caging me in.

BLOG TOUR (+ARC Review): Intrigued by Love by Sienna Snow

Intrigued By Love - BT banner

Hello Lovelies! This beauty of a book is officially out and the blog tour for its release is kicking off today! I hope you’ll join the different blogs participating over the next few days and pick this wonderful book up!

48908657

Synopsis:

I knew I was in trouble as soon as I read my horoscope.

Dear Gemini,
A blast from the past will force you to confront your dual nature.
Love is in the air, but only if you are open to it.
Remember, your heart can’t heal if you don’t examine the wounds.

Only one man fit that description. Jackson Burton. Libra. Breaker of hearts, my ex-boyfriend, and the best man for my sister’s wedding.

When he ghosted me, I ran as far away as I could, to this island paradise. Now, I was also trapped here for the wedding.

With him.

With the memories of our life together.

Our chemistry was more than just a memory. It was a live wire.

And he planned to spend the next month reminding me exactly what I was missing.

My Spoiler-Free ARC Review:

🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁

I highly enjoyed this book. The connection between the two characters was out of the world and I just loved reading their story so much! By the end of the book, I was actually telling myself to read slower because I didn’t want it to be over!

<h2 style=”text-align: center;”><strong>Excerpt </strong></h2>

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Kailani</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>My pulse jumped as I whirled around to face Jax. He leaned
against the railing closest to the stairs leading down to the lower patio.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>It was as if my thoughts, my memories had conjured him, but I
knew the truth. It was his need to talk to me, to throw me off-kilter, to make me lose the
control I liked in my life.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>The energy burned between us like a livewire, just as it had
been since he’d stepped foot on my resort. However, here we were alone. There was no
escaping him now.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>He looked so good. The rolled-up sleeves and open collar of his
shirt gave a hint of the tattoos that covered his arms and body and made a woman glimpse the
rebel under the polished businessman. The fact I knew every inch of him, the way he kissed, the
way he possessed a woman, the way he fucked added to the anxiety now coursing through
me.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“Why are you on my balcony, Jax?”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>His slight smile touched his full lips, and he moved closer to
where I stood. “You tell me what you were thinking about and I’ll answer your
question.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>I retreated until my back hit the pillar near the balcony rail,
realizing too late that I’d just put myself in a more compromising position than if I’d stayed still
and stood my ground.</span>

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“Jax. This area is off-limits to guests.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>What was the point of having a lone villa away from the resort
if no one respected my privacy?</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“Am I only a guest to you, Kai? The last time we were alone, I
thought I was the man you loved.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Closing my eyes, I tried to hide the pain his words brought
forth as well as the tears that burned my eyes.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Jax cupped my jaw, causing a startled gasp to escape my
lips.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>I stared into his stormy gray eyes, seeing the intensity I’d
imagined so many times over the last few years.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>He thumbed the wetness dampening my cheeks. “You
wouldn’t cry if you didn’t still feel something for me.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“Feeling something for you was never the problem. It’s how
you felt about me.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Confusion flashed over his face, then hurt before it
disappeared and was replaced with his standard cool mask.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“You were my world. My future. My everything.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>I swallowed, not wanting to scream and tell him to fuck off. If
it was true then why had he let me believe I hadn’t mattered, that his career, his ambition, his
family were more important than me?</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Instead of voicing my questions, I set a hand on his chest and
pushed, but the man wouldn’t budge. Instead, he grabbed hold of my wrists and pinned them
above my head.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>A shiver shot down my spine and straight to my clit.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>He loomed over me. The heat of his body, so close to mine,
added fuel to the fire of need he seemed to bring forth without trying.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“You don’t believe me?”</span>

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“It doesn’t matter. It was over two years ago.” I made my best
attempt to sound disinterested, knowing good and well I was failing. “We both moved
on.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>His hold only tightened for a fraction of a second before
loosening.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“Is that right?” Holding my gaze, he asked, “How would you
know if I moved on or not? You left without looking back.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>I couldn’t tell him that I kept tabs on him. To see if he was
seeing someone else or if he found someone who fit into the world he was born into.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“Leaving was the only choice I had.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“Did you ever think that I deserved to know the reason you
walked out the door?”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“It doesn’t matter. It’s in the past.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>“Past? I think not.” He leaned in, grazing his jaw along the
column of my neck and causing goose bumps to pebble my skin. “I know every nuance of your
body, and the way you’re reacting to me right now says there is no past to us.”</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”> </span>

BLOG TOUR (+EXCERPT): Secrets of the Great Fire Tree by Justine Laismith

44180656. sy475

In rural China during the New Year celebrations, Kai receives devastating news. A poor harvest spells disaster unless his mother accepts a job in the city caring for a wealthy family.

Abandoned in his mountainous village, Kai is desperate to bring his mother home. He gives in to superstition and unlocks the secrets of the Great Fire Tree. The Great Fire Tree will grant Kai’s wish—for a terrible price. With the help of his new friend Xinying and his trusted piglet, Kai will make a sacrifice to make his family whole.

Justine Laismith weaves together Chinese mystique and rural charm in an enchanting tale of an antidote that kills and an amulet that curses.

EXCERPT:

Kai fetched his basket. It was wide and deep enough that if he curled himself into a ball, he could
fit in it. Two pieces of cloths were tied to it in a loop shoulder length apart, forming the shoulder
straps for him to carry the basket on his back. Yee Por held the basket for him while he threaded
his arms through.

With the bucket inside and Piglet on a rope, Kai descended toward the thick bushes. Down the
mountain path and past the soft green that grew around the clearing to his favorite Dragon’s
Pearl Tree, the tall tree with enormous fruit that went uneaten. To Kai, it was such a wasted
effort; even more so last year when the tree tried to brighten up the dry season with heavy
blossoms. They were unusual flowers; instead of branches, they stuck out directly from the
trunk. But like any flower, the petals fell and produced its fruit.

“The birds would not eat them, so we mustn’t eat them either.” He remembered what Ma had
said.

Every tree and every rock down that familiar path to the river reminded him of Ma, how he used
to charge ahead with Pink Belly, whacking the bushes and frolicking in the clearing until Ma
caught up with them.Today, he did not feel like playing with the new piglet in the same way.
He had always gone with Ma to fetch the water. She was stronger and carried the bigger bucket.
He carried the smaller one. It only took fifteen liters.

Without Ma, the road back was windier and more treacherous. The burden of the water weighed
him down as he lumbered upward. Thank goodness Piglet was only tiny and seemed to know
how to handle the uneven terrain, grass or rock, upward or downward. He rested his tired legs
and shoulders every few meters. But each time he stopped, he listened for voices. He did not
want to be caught resting by the school bullies. Especially now he was on his own.

On one of these breaks, he heard a rustle. Then a pair of huge feet appeared on the path.
