Book Quote of the Day

Book Quote of the Day #23

Screenshot_2019-03-31 Artstudio – Dashboard(1)

“If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn into a mighty stranger.”

Why this quote?

Admission: I have not actually read this book. BUT a character read this quote in a book that I was reading and, even though I had not read Wuthering Heights myself, when the character read the line, I couldn’t help but cry. A bunch of emotions came over me and I felt the sorrow in those words, even though I had no idea what characters it was talking about. That is the power of words. And I will never forget this quote because of it.

Thanks for joining me! Have any thoughts on my quote? Let me know! ~𝒜𝓊𝓉𝓊𝓂𝓃 💕

WWW #4

*WWW Wednesday is a meme currently hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words.*

The three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

I know that it is not Wednesday, but since my Wednesdays are taken up by my Top 5 Wednesday post, I post my WWWs on Monday. It is the start of the week and just makes more sense for me personally.

Currently Reading:

I am currently reading His Goddess by D. Morrissey. I am very much a mood reader and a couple days ago, I was thinking about what I wanted to read next and then, all the sudden, I was like “I want to read an alien romance” so viola!

I was provided an eARC of this book via Hidden Gems Books in exchange for an honest review. I am enjoying is so far (even though I am only about 20% in). You are thrown into things very quickly and the story in moving fast.

Recently Finished Reading:

Screenshot_2019-04-21 Untitled Design(1).png

I recently finished reading some of the books in the Dark Protectors series. I am on a really big Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance kick and I have been reading this series for the last week. I have been really enjoying them so far. Here are my reviews for these three books:

To Read Next:

There are a few novellas that are spread throughout the Dark Protectors series. I skipped a few of them because they come in a bundle. I plan to get the bundle and then binge read the novellas over the course of the next few days.

Thank you for joining me today! What are some books on your WWW list? ~𝒜𝓊𝓉𝓊𝓂𝓃 💕

Shadowed (Dark Protectors #6) by Rebecca Zanetti

Goodreads | Amazon US | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository

Jase Kayrs was the fun brother. The warm, charming, easy-going brother of the vampire leaders. Until he was taken and tortured by demons with their evil mind tricks for nearly five years. Upon his return, he’s dark, violent, and not the man they all thought they knew. Not the man he once was. He’s haunted that the only reason the demons would have let him live was to use him as a weapon against his family—but he can’t figure out when or how he’ll explode. Plus, once again the demons are after Jase with a vengeance…or rather, a female demon he rejected is out to destroy him.

Then the king asks Jase for a favor… a big one. To mate with one of their allies in order to save her. She’s everything that’s good and light in the world… while he’s at home with darkness. Yet he agrees… knowing mating may be the only chance to save them both.

He could do this. It was time to reclaim his life, to be who he wanted to be and not who the demons had tried to turn him into. He was Jase-fucking-Kayrs, and he controlled the elements.

I liked this book. I enjoyed the relationship between Brenna and Jase. Watching them both come together and save one another was absolutely beautiful. And the progressions of their characters separately and together was just well done.

I’ve come to realize something that I really don’t like about this series. This book takes place twenty years after the first book and it doesn’t feel like the plot is going anywhere. The villain is the same, the virus is still just as deadly and no where close to being cured, and the conflicts are starting to feel really competitive. If it weren’t for the fact that everything seems to be coming to a head in the next book, I probably would have DNF’d this series. I hate to say that, but it’s true.

It also feels like the same thing happens in each book. Someone gets kidnapped, everyone rushes to save them, some trap is laid that typically fails, eventually they get the person back, and then another person is taken. It’s the same thing over and over and over again. I have stopped being as emotionally invested as I once was because of it.

In fact, I might be taking a break from this series for a while because I’ve just gotten bored at this point.

Provoked (Dark Protectors #5) by Rebecca Zanetti

 Goodreads | Amazon US | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository | Books-A-Million

A casualty of the war between the demons and the vampires, Jase Kayrs has been missing for six long years. His older brothers want answers—but they’re going to have to get them from an unlikely source. For when Kane Kayrs tracks down Amber Freebird, what he finds is a blonde, vegan pacifist who has no intention of using her skills in his war…

Amber enjoys her life of chaotic freedom and has no intention of falling in line just because a sexy-as-sin vampire insists on order. Unfortunately, he discovers she may be the only hope they have of finding his brother, and there’s no way he’s going to let her go—even if it means mating her to gain her cooperation. The two are as different as can be, yet when the dominant Kane and the untamed Amber finally unite to rescue Jase, they just may find that opposites really do attract…

“I love you with everything I am and everything I’ll ever be.”

I loved this book! From the very first chapter, I was hooked. I sped through the rest of the book and I was finished before I knew it. The story line was just so addicting and I did not want to put this book down!

Amber- Amber was… very different from the previous main female characters. Her attitude was refreshing and how she would react to things wasn’t always easy to guess. Her outlook on life was a surprise as well. She was a vegan, pacifist, and very eco supportive. While this is all well and good, sometimes her ranting over the leather couches when Jase was being physically and mentally tortured came off really bad for me. Sometimes, you have to be thankful with what you’ve got, even if it isn’t the best thing in the world or necessarily what you wanted.

Kane- Going in to this book, I had been really interested in Kane. I wanted to see what woman could rack his cold logic/emotionless exterior. Well, Amber certainly did that. I loved Kane in this book though. Watching him steadily begin to lose control over his emotions and watching his scientist brain begin to understand love was SO great!

Jase- My poor baby Jase. His chapters were the hardest to get through. I cried and my heart really hurt for him. One or two scenes of his torture was unbelievably hard for me to watch and he had already been going through it for four years. I can’t begin to imagine the pain and suffering he went through and I can only hope that he finds some reason to want to live now.

Hilde- I really don’t know what to think of Hilde. Her personality is just A LOT to take in. Her little side romance with Oscar was adorable though.

Janie & Kalin- When Janie kissed Kalin, my heart about stopped. I was like NOOOO!!! What was she thinking?!?! He got some of her blood!!! Yes, she got his blood in exchange, but this can’t possibly be good for her.

Janie & Zane- My heart aches for these two. I just want them to get together and be happy and save the world. I started screaming “YES! YES!! YEEESSSS!!!” when Zane said he is coming for her soon. Bring it on and GIVE. IT. TO. ME!!!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Obviously, I will be continuing the series. You couldn’t stop me from reading the next book if you tried! I can’t wait to start it!

“Sometimes our best action results in things that are most regrettable.”

Why this quote?

This quote stuck out to me when I read this book because it is so true. We might mean well and are trying to do the right thing, but it can end up making the situation worse than when you started.

Thanks for joining me! Have any thoughts on my quote? Let me know! ~𝒜𝓊𝓉𝓊𝓂𝓃

Goodreads Book Tag

Hello Lovelies! Today, I thought I’d do the Goodreads Book Tag. I recently hit my two year anniversary on Goodreads so I figured now would be a really good time to do it.

𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕨𝕒𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕝𝕒𝕤𝕥 𝕓𝕠𝕠𝕜 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕞𝕒𝕣𝕜𝕖𝕕 𝕒𝕤 ‘𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕’?

Consumed (Dark Protectors #4) by Rebecca Zanetti

My review for this book can be found here.

Smoke and Wishes (Best Wishes #1) by A.J. Macey

𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕓𝕠𝕠𝕜 𝕕𝕠 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕡𝕝𝕒𝕟 𝕥𝕠 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕 𝕟𝕖𝕩𝕥?

Twisted (Dark Protectors #5.5) by Rebecca Zanetti

I’m on a big Dark Protectors kick right now and I really don’t see myself stopping any time soon! I just love this series and the world that it is in!

𝔻𝕠 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕦𝕤𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕣 𝕣𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕤𝕪𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕞?

Yes, I do. I also rate my stars based on how Goodreads does. The only exceptions to it that I have is that I use .5 .25 & .75 stars.

𝔸𝕣𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕕𝕠𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒 𝟚𝟘𝟙𝟡 ℝ𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕘 ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕟𝕘𝕖?

YES! I always do a Goodreads Challenge and I always use 100 as my goal. Even though, realistically, I should surpass that with no problems. I just like for my percentages to be easily calculated. For instance, I have read 80 books so far this year and my Goodreads Challenge percentage is 80%. If I were to use 250 as my goal (which is more likely), than the math I would have to do to guess how many books I have to read to reach a certain percentage would be more difficult.

𝔻𝕠 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕒 𝕨𝕚𝕤𝕙𝕝𝕚𝕤𝕥?

I have one on Amazon. It can be found here if you are overly interested.

𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕓𝕠𝕠𝕜 𝕕𝕠 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕡𝕝𝕒𝕟 𝕥𝕠 𝕓𝕦𝕪 𝕟𝕖𝕩𝕥?

∴  The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

I keep seeing this book everywhere and I am really interested in reading it! It certainly sounds like something I would be interested in. Please let me know what you thought of this book!

𝔻𝕠 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕒𝕟𝕪 𝕗𝕒𝕧𝕠𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕖 𝕢𝕦𝕠𝕥𝕖𝕤? 𝕊𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕒 𝕗𝕖𝕨.

I have plenty of favorite quotes! I have so many in fact that I post one every day through my Book Quote of the Day posts. Some of my all time favorites would have to be:

“Good and evil are merely opposite sides of a coin. Get tossed in the air enough, it’s easy to come down on the wrong side.” ~Dreamfever

“Most people are lucky to have even one great love in their life. You have found two.” ~Clockwork Princess

“He thinks he’ll be remembered as the villain in the story. But I forgot to tell him that the villain is usually the person who locks up the maiden and throws away the key. He was the one who let me out.” ~A Court of Mist and Fury

“The Court of Dreams.
The people who knew that there was a price, and one worth paying, for that dream. The bastard- born warriors, the Illyrian half breed, the monster trapped in a beautiful body, the dreamer born into a court of nightmares…And the huntress with an artist’s soul.” ~A Court of Mist and Fury

“Maybe there were people who lived those lives. Maybe this girl was one of them. But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and the nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren’t chosen, when there was no royal blood in your veins. When the world owed you nothing, you demanded something of it anyway.” ~Crooked Kingdom

𝕎𝕙𝕠 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕗𝕒𝕧𝕠𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕖 𝕒𝕦𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕣𝕤?
