Synopsis:

Marry Me! Cara Paulsen does not give up easily. A scientist and a single mother, she’s used to fighting for what she wants, keeping a cool head, and doing whatever it takes to protect her daughter Janie. But “whatever it takes” has never before included a shotgun wedding to a dangerous-looking stranger with an attitude problem.

Or Else! Sure, the mysterious Talen says that he’s there to protect Cara and Janie. He also says that he’s a three-hundred-year-old vampire. Of course, the way he touches her, Cara might actually believe he’s had that long to practice. . .

“I suggest you get some rest, darlin’. Life just became very interesting.”

MAJOR SPOILERS THROUGHOUT:
I really liked this book. The opening chapter immediately grabbed my attention and the rest of the book kept a firm hold of it. I loved how expansive the world was and I am so excited for it to open up further in future books. This installment kind of set the stage for a lot of story lines and I am looking forward to developing those more as well.

Cara- Cara was one of my biggest problems with this book. Realistically, I knew why she acted the way she did and made the choices that she did, but I still struggled with her character. I spent a lot of the book disliking the decisions that she made and her constant back and forth on if to trust Talen or not was really annoying.

Talen- I liked Talen. I appreciated how he never gave up on Cara and constantly worked to gain her love and trust. He didn’t let her rejection get in the way of what they could have. I adored Talen’s relationship with Janie and their moments together were some of my favorite throughout the whole book.

Janie- Can I have her? Like for real? Janie was just so precious and I absolutely adored her. She was my favorite character in the book and she’s only four years old!!! I can’t wait to see her grow in the future books and develop into the great woman I know she’s going to be.

Zane- I loved Zane and his relationship with Janie. It warms my heart that he is dedicating himself to her protection and is there for her. I want to see more of his character and learn more information on Zane SOO badly. What is he? Who is he?

Emma- I got to see very little of Emma in this book, but I already love her. She is just the right combination of sass and snark and I NEED her book. Seeing her and Dage develop as mates is going to be a never ending source of amusement for me. I just know it.

Kalin- I’m scared to death of this kid. I knew as soon as he came onto the page that his father was playing at being a villain. Kalin is the real deal… and he’s only fifteen. Lord, I hope that he is snuffed out before he has a chance to grow into adulthood.

Katie & Jordan- I was not expecting shifters to be a part of this series, but I am all here for it. When Katie and Jordan showed up, I was SO excited. I know that their part of this story isn’t over yet and I can’t wait to watch it unfold.

Maggie- Maggie appeared very briefly in this book, but I have a feeling that she is going to play a big role.

Conn- When is his book coming? Like I NEED it. I am dying to know more about this mate of his.

What I Didn’t Like- The pacing was a little slow at times and I didn’t feel the romance. Mainly because of Cara (as explained above). She kind of just ruined that whole story line for me. I am hoping that Dage and Emma’s book will be better.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I love these characters and need more of this world. I will definitely be continuing the series. I can’t wait to start the next book!
